5 Months Old and Counting!

Clayton is already 5 1/2 months old and Gracelynn is 2 going on FOUR. They are almost inseparable - what big sister does little brother wants to try. If Clayton could get his legs underneath of him I have no doubt he'd be right behind her...which bodes trouble for mommy in the months to come.

Gracelynn's Christmas tent from Uncle Andrew and Aunt Alex is definitely a favorite between the two. I don't mind - a lot of amusement can come from four walls, a blanket, and two pillows. :)

Gracelynn is all about "sequence" these days. Everything gets lined up - including my apples!

Just how my climber slipped up the stools without me knowing? I don't even want to know.

My boy is getting so big! I didn't realize I used the phrase "big guy" until I heard Gracelynn consoling him the other day with "big okay. 's okay big guy". Too precious
.

Since I haven't been out much lately with the snow now - I've been doing a lot of what I call "pantry" and "freezer" cooking...which means I cook off the hodge-podge I have stored away. Sometimes it's good...and other times my dear husband just doesn't comment on supper. :)

Here, Gracelynn and I are making apple doughnuts. Yum!

We've had a few really cold days and even Sam hasn't wanted to be outside! Not that Gracelynn seems to mind. :)

Gracelynn had another haircut and her daddy thinks she looks charming in her little bob.

We are officially the "stop-drop-and-drive" for Grandma between classes. After a week of lectures and five minutes here at the Kelley house, both Grandma and Grandson were out cold.
Come again G'ma! If Clayton sleeps this well, let's make it weekly!

Both kids are sleeping right now - so instead of using my time on the computer, I'm going to use these rare moments to read a good book, drink a hot cup of hot cocoa, and put my feet up!

Growing Up

It's hard to believe, but my babies are growing up so fast.
Clayton is rolling over (and yelling in rage when he gets stuck on his stomach in the crib), experimenting with all kinds of sounds, chews on everything, and absolutely adores his sister.

Gracelynn, on the other hand, is adding to her vocabulary daily...although Mommy may not always translate it right. ;)

Clayton has been joining the family at the table lately and loves it.

No cereal for another month or so, but it doesn't seem to bother him a bit.

At the table, Gracelynn has a one track mind (for that matter...it seems to be on that same food track all day long!).

I don't get a chance to have many photos taken with my boy, so I pleaded with Heath to snap a quick one before we headed off to the park. What is with this winter, by the way? When was the last time we had 50 degree weather in January?!

I know, my baby looks so old! He'll be 5 months old next week. Wow.

That's all for now. Clayton is rolling over right beside me and trying to fall asleep. I'm not letting him quite yet...he hasn't had his last meal. Gracelynn already said "Nite" sweetly and happily followed her Daddy up to bed. (Sigh, I love happy nights).

Now it's time for a good book, a little R&R with the hubby, and an early bedtime - I know, uneventful sounding right? Why is it that it takes parenthood to really open our eyes to the beautiful bliss of silence?

Good night all.
Sleep tight.

Mommy Drink?

Hello Blog World -

I know it's been forever since I've posted. Chalk it up to no computer and the holiday season. Regardless, at least I'm posting, right?

This morning I woke up to my daughter saying, "Mommy drink?" right before I felt the cold blast of water being poured all over my face and pillow. Good morning mommy.

Gracelynn has been obsessed with all of my "animal" hats lately and runs around asking me to put it on her.

And, unfortunately, strikes a very typical pose as she gets the "guckies" on her nose...yes, we're working on that!

What a "melt like butter" smile. :)
(Yes, I know I'm biased...but I'm the mom - I get to be like that right?)

Clayton, on the other hand, has been rolling just after he turned 4 months old. He's lifting his head and shoulders off of the floor - grunting and growling because he can't follow his sister out of the room. I can't leave him ANYwhere these days. He twists and turns right out of his swing and bouncer, loves laughing and squealing with Gracelynn, and must ask her to pick him up in baby talk because that's what she tries to do.

Don't ask me why, but these two always seem to try and share the same space. If Gracelynn is in her "tent", Clayton grunts until he's either pushed himself across the carpet to her or I bring him in. If little brother is in the saucer, big sister is underneath.

Christmas was a blast with family - yes, we're tired - but we loved seeing everyone. Below is Gracelynn riding "horsey" right after her nap.

I'm afraid we'll be asked more than once for a "horse" or a "pony" in the years to come.

In typical Gracelynn fashion - all she can do is act crazy when I point the camera her way. Oh well. I tried.

That gets you all semi-updated. Bible study starts down at Harvest (our church) in a couple weeks and I am so looking forward for some out-of-the-house time. Childcare is provided and I'm pumped!

I'm watching Miss Congeniality right now and relaxing, Heath is off working out at the high school, Gracelynn is in bed, and Clayton is sleeping off his last meal. :) Blessings to you all!
