I know, it's been way too long since I've posted…so, at the risk of boring you all with the details of our life, I'll do my best to get everyone up to speed. :)
It's hard to believe it's already May. Heath's last day of school is this next Wednesday - for which Gracelynn and I will be very thankful. Lately, because of baseball practice, Heath only gets to say "Good Morning Girly" and then "Good Night"…so we're all three excited for summer!
Gracelynn is definitely gearing up for the heat. She's big into sunglasses, pools, and bare feet lately.
We had our first scary encounter with pneumonia a few weeks ago. In a matter of days, Gracelynn went from happy and healthy to feverish and sick. It was definitely not a fun or relaxing week and from there, I got sick and Heath managed to evade the worst of it with some meds.
We're all back to good health and we wake up to hear Gracelynn talking in her bed saying, "Outside, outside". We're in a new stage - definitely toddler - and Gracelynn has been talking as if her life depended on it! She can now distinctly say:
Mamma
Daddy
(Uncle) Seth
Grandpa
Please
Ow!!!
Uh-oh
Hi
Buh-bye
Door
Outside
Sam
More
No!
Yes (though not as often!)
Swing
Slide
Flower
Pretty
Up
Off
Down
Eye
Toes
Baby
(Winnie the) Pooh
Car
Bus
Truck
Cow
Dog
…and a ton of other words (I'm listing all I can think of because one day she'll ask for her baby book…haha, um, this is it!)
She loves to mimic anything we say and absolutely enjoys every minute outside learning new words. Birds are her new thing…along with trucks and cars…at which she always waves to the (mostly) delight of all the drivers. Sam is her constant shadow and just dotes on her when she's out in the backyard…which is just fine with me! When we're out in the heat, I just sit in my camp-chair and move with the shade!
Yes, pregnancy is going well...though I lose track of how far along I am...think it's somewhere between 27-28 weeks now...
Here's the little scooter begging for food!
And posing for Daddy.
We have a garden this year. I'm so excited! Heath gave me permission to plant as much "high-yield, low-maintenance" plants as I wanted…since I would be planting and weeding them, but he would be harvesting them. ;) So we have rows upon rows of potatoes, carrots, onions…and just as soon as I can get them in, tomatoes, peppers, squash, beets, and baking pumpkins.
This past Monday, Heath and I celebrated THREE YEARS together. :) Did we do anything special? Well, we thought so…we went out for pizza and enjoy an actual meal together that didn't involve toddler utensils, milk spills, and noise. We then literally sat in our porch in the quiet and enjoyed the silence. :) Although, we did admit that we have no idea what we ever did before we became parents. Lol.
We spent last weekend in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids celebrating my mom's graduation for U.I. Gracelynn soaked up the extra attention from her uncles and grandparents and was her usually wiggly self.
She also greatly enjoys her diaper time...only now she puts up a struggle when it's time to put pants back on. Oh dear!
Grrrr!!!! No pants!!!!
Somewhere this spring, I picked up a little baby stroller at a garage sale and I have to admit, it's been the best toy purchase of my parenting experience short of her "baby" doll. Up and down the sidewalk we'll go...and go...and go!
And the amazing Cozy Coupe!
After garage-saling hour after hour only to arrive too late to snatch one of these up, my mother and I went SUPER early to a sale and FOUND ONE...even better than it being available was the fact that I paid a whopping $5!
Maybe this is the second best toy purchase I've made...
Rice Krispie bar and Cozy Coupe...it doesn't get any better than this, eh?
Well, I think that's all for now. The plan is to grill hotdogs and baked beans for supper tonight. I promise I'll try and do better with the blog! My computer bit the dust and I have to wait until evenings to get my hands on another...which means I'm tired - okay, so I'm always tired - I'm just REALLY tired at night. ;)
Good night all!
